Children’s Program Mission Statement
At Cardell Dance Studio, we prioritize a pedagogy of healthy and integrated movement development in our children’s programming, with classes for children ranging from 3-12 years old. Our studio director, children’s program director, and children’s program teachers have backgrounds in Laban Movement Analysis as well as various somatic forms such as Barteneiff Fundamentals, Humphrey Technique, and the BRAIN Dance Method. There is a focus on dance as artistry, to promote children’s coordination, capacity, social skills and expression. Children’s classes are grouped according to ages and styles, with ballet, hip hop, creative dance, modern technique, and jazz being offered. We work with each family to support our students, and also coordinate with school teachers and schools parents organizations to engage with our local community.
Health, Attendance & Lice Policy
To help keep our dance community healthy, we ask families to use their best judgment when children are feeling unwell, especially with symptoms that may be contagious or easily spread to others. Children should return to class when they feel well enough to participate fully and safely. When possible, we will do our best to offer a class substitution for missed classes.
Lice can happen in any children’s setting, and we appreciate families helping us reduce spread with care and discretion. If your child has lice, please begin treatment before returning to class and let us know so we can take appropriate steps in the studio. For children with long hair, we ask that hair be securely tied back for class.
Thank you for helping us care for our students, families, and teachers.
